Biography
Born and raised in El Paso, Texas - Ruben has been drawing and painting for more than 15 years.
Artist - Ruben Archuleta
I started drawing and painting when I was going through a tough period of my life. My first oil canvas was created in 2006.
Art became a therapy to my stress. I created colorful abstract art work so I could reassure my family that I was still sane, even after enduring many years of injustice and the worst years of my life. I am thankful for my family's support.
My art represents places and times of salvation to the mind, adverse times and immense heartache. The purpose of my art work is to give people a sense of hope in the worse times of their life and uncontrollable situations.
The Western and Abstract oil paintings represent our American justice system, barren of life and truth. The riding of the bull, landscapes, horses and Indian paintings represent bravery to do what is right. Always strive to do what is right and forgive what is wrong with our American justice system. Sometimes you don't know how events will turn out but when you hold on to your soul you win your own victory.
I am very fond of my Indian paintings because they represent bravery at a time of injustice and heartaches that are legendary to many tribes. My favorite artists are Michelangelo, Pablo Picasso and Peter Paul Rubens.
What makes me unique to other artist is that I am self-taught in oil paintings and abstracts, I learned the hard way. Most of the time I was unsure about how to paint but I stopped thinking and started painting from my heart, I found my inspiration....."My family"
